Yazmeen KanjiFounder and Creative Director
Yazmeen is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Peace, Conflict and Justice Studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs, Equity Studies and Cinema Studies. She began creating films at a young age and seeks to bring awareness to issues of global importance through filmmaking. Yazmeen oversees all operations of the organization, especially attending to social media related matters and the development of creative content. Yazmeen hopes that Films With A Cause can become a platform for sharing digital content that has the potential to enact social and political change and that will encourage sustainable practices as well as increase opportunities for vulnerable and underserved populations. Yazmeen is also a professional videographer, a social media representative for the Canadian Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, a Munk One alumna and a Jackman Humanities Scholar.
Tiffany is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto. She is double majoring in International Relations and Health Studies. Over the past summer, she completed an exchange program at Oxford where she studied Human Rights and International Relations. Since then, it has further sparked her interest in travelling as she believes that there are still so many stories about numerous people groups that have yet to be heard. Growing up, she was always writing. She has a great deal of experience as a creative writer and as a journalist. Films are where she draws most of her inspiration from. She believes that they are a vivid outlet for expression as well as a powerful tool to invoke change.
Zoya Abou-JaishSocial Media Representative
Zoya is an undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa studying Electrical Engineering on a scholarship. Zoya has always been enthusiastic about films and seeks opportunities to harness her creativity through ways that can benefit others. As part of a class project, Zoya and her team built a net zero home specific to needs of Indigenous people. Zoya is trilingual in English, Arabic and German, and has studied in the United Arab Emirates and Germany. Having a Syrian background, Zoya works on the organization’s Syrian newcomer initiative, “From Syria To Hope” and is assisting in the documentary’s promotion and official release. Zoya will be putting forth and managing creative ideas for video and film content, creating plans for the organization. Zoya hopes that through films and documentaries she can raise awareness for as many important social and environmental issues as possible.
Jasmine KaraEvents Coordinator
Jasmine is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto specializing in Human Geography with a background in Political Science. Her academic interests include urban planning and local political stances that may infringe on human rights. Jasmine is also an Event Planning Assistant and an Alumni Event Assistant for Innis College, home to the Cinema Studies Institute. Her strong networking skills along with her prior experience as an event planner have proven to be exceptional qualifications for her position with this organization. By partaking in Films With A Cause, Jasmine hopes to further explore the dynamics of film production and to spread social awareness on both a local and global scale.

Kathryna CuizonBranding Graphic Designer
Kathryna is a student at the University of Toronto in architecture studies. Environmental sustainability and ethical development are an important focus in her undergrad experience. Traveling on her school breaks, she enjoys filming and photography as a way to capture the beauty of each place. With a fascination for art and design as well, she is a part of this organization as a graphic designer. She supports Films With A Cause and believes it will become a platform to create awareness of important social and environmental relations and issues in the world.
Patricia PonceMarketing Graphic Designer
Patricia is an upcoming third year student who is studying Mathematics, Sociology and Education. She is an aspiring teacher who is passionate about improving the quality of and access to education around the world. She has been closely involved with other activities and organizations such as WE: Free the Children UofT and New College Peer Mentorship. Serving as a graphic designer for the organization, Patricia hopes to portray the values and messages of Films With a Cause through visual representation.
Anisha VohoraLegal Consultant
Anisha is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying Politics and Equity Studies with a focus on Canadian politics within the legal sphere. She cultivated an interest in creating unique content and honing her skills with public speaking to bring awareness to issues of global importance. Anisha attends to creativity focused matters with development of creative content. Anisha hopes that Films With A Cause can become a platform for sharing digital content that has a focus on prevalent global issues and to give individuals a platform to enact social change. Anisha is also currently working at Peirce McNeely Associates to hone her skills within the legal field and understanding the relationship between social change and the current legal climate.

Vivian is studying at U of T with a major in English and Philosophy, and a minor in East Asian Studies. She tries to see the world with a multidisciplinary mindset and loves to read, write, sing, play the piano, and compose music. Her chapbook collection will be coming out in late 2018 and she is currently editing a short story collection and a novel. As the Blog Editor, she hopes to combine her interests in writing and film with her passion for social justice and equality. As well, she hopes that Films With a Cause will be able to shed light on voices that are otherwise silenced, as she firmly believes in the potential for the arts to open up channels for human empathy and understanding.

Yasmine Dendane is an undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa majoring in science of psychology and minoring in management. With her work in psychology, she is able to use her skills in tactfully connecting to others and finding a way to appeal to those who are important to the organization. She has always been active in doing volunteer work and dedicating her time to helping those around her. Additionally, She finds a fascination in the social media aspect of building a solid foundation for any organization. Yasmine wants to spend her time helping Films With A Cause in building it’s social media presence and have more of a positive impact on the youth of today by bringing forth important social topics.

Komal is an undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa studying Electrical Engineering. Komal is an active member her community and enjoys volunteering at senior homes, as well as tutoring students. She has always had an interest in the film industry and uses her creativity to improve the lives of those around her. Komal believes that films and social media platforms are excellent mediums to communicate social issues and spread positivity. As a Social Media Representative for Films with a Cause, she hopes to spread social awareness of the political and socio-economic issues that are prevalent around the world.
